The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival has been held since 1999 and it gets bigger and better each time. Our Malt Project crew began this documentary at the spring 2004 festival and buttoned it up in 2005. Speyside is something special. It is the epicenter of the Whisky industry. The Spey Valley has the highest concentration of distilleries in the world, and is a favorite destination for whisky lovers around the world. And they come to celebrate, be educated and meet the people who make their favorite drink. Twice a year, a large group of whisky lovers gather in the little town of Dufftown for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. There's a saying that "Rome was built on seven hills; Dufftown was built on seven stills". No where else can one find so much of the whisky business in one location.
