Special because you are someone who loves single malt Scotch whisky and especially those malts from Islay, which are very peaty.

The distilleries on the Isle of Islay are noted for Smokey and peaty flavors. In the words of Lapghroaig’s advertising campaign – You’ll Love it or Hate it!

If you’re a true Peat Freak you love the Ardbegs, Laphroaigs, Bowmores, Lagavulins and Caol Ilas. And, you have a very special feeling about Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain and even a rare Port Ellen or Isle of Jura (especially the new Superstition and 1984 Orwell).

In truth the “Phenolic content” of the malted barley varies in the Islay distilleries from around 30 parts per million to around 80 or 90 with the most between 35 and 50 ppm. But maybe you care more about the taste than the statistics.
